Convalescence-Featured Poem August, 2021

I now know more people who have had breakthrough Delta COVID than I know who had COVID before they were vaccinated. While my friends don’t happen to be dangerously sick, thankfully, this is a time to do our best to remember that sickness and displacement can also bring opportunities for connection and caring. I wish you continued health in these strange days and may you be able to hold close those you love.

This poem is from my new poetry collection, Cloudbreak, just published this June by Poetic Matrix Press, also at Amazon or your local bookstore.

Convalescence

The gentle, halting

walk. A bit

more each day.

The time,

honey-slow,

I savor his

familiar profile

in the fading

afternoon

light.
