Dear Friends, This is a pandemic poem you might enjoy which did not fit into my newest book of poetry: All in Measure: A Book of Hours, 2020-2022. You can order the book at any bookstore or online.
As I went to Amazon just now for the link I discovered that it is free on Kindle Unlimited through some mystery of Amazon ?! I am much more interested in people enjoying my poems so enjoy! Maybe leave a short review.
My Husband Studies Spanish in the Pandemic
The neighborhood raven is practicing.
Early morning, the street and park are empty.
From his accustomed street light perch,
his eye and ear is on the look-out sparrow
of the flock foraging below in toyon berries.
The white-crowned sparrow
makes distress warning calls
like a ticking bomb or a microwave beep.
Head cocked, the raven clucks
and chocks, trying to match cadence and tone
of the bird’s urgent peeps.
Second raven of the pair
flies in to perch shoulder to shoulder
with her mate.
She croaks a bit, but largely ignored,
ruffles her feathers, flies off again,
leaving him to his project.
Ha!!! I love this! !Un momento que todos podemos reconocer! An easily recognized beautifully illustrated universal moment in relationship! More haha!
