Dear Friends,
Angie Minkin and I invite you to join us at a launch reading for our two new poetry books, November, 5, 2026 at Bird & Beckett Bookstore Glen Park. It starts at 7:00 in the evening and will be followed by an open mike. We are very delighted that our two celebrated mentors, Kathleen McClung and Diane Frank, will join to kick off the open mike session with poems of their own.
My newest book is CROSSWINDS and will be available from Blue Light Press by the end of November.

PRAISE FOR CROSSWINDS BY HEATHER SAUNDERS ESTES
In Crosswinds, Heather Saunders Estes’ sweeping fourth collection, weather becomes the language of both upheaval and resilience. Rooted in California’s coastal landscape and mercurial collisions of ocean fog and valley heat, these poems seek the touchstones and stillpoints within the turbulence of mortality, climate change, pandemic, and a daughter’s unexpected illness. One of Estes’ extraordinary gifts is the generosity of her attention. Like the sun that touches “kids on playgrounds, and panhandlers on the Panhandle” and “also nudges noses of coyotes,” her unflinching gaze illuminates the dramas and delights of our volatile world. With stunning candor and vivid imagery, Estes cultivates a hard-won wisdom: even in “pelting hail and pain” we can and must “make our own joy.”
